PROPOSED NATURAL GAS REGULATOR STATION
A proposed natural gas regulator station in the Box Grove community will serve the existing distribution network in the Town of Markham and the city of Toronto (Scarborough). The station is proposed to be located on the piece of land that separates Ninth Line and Box Grove By Pass (just south of hwy 407) and will be surrounded by fencing and green lanscaping. Target approvals and construction for Fall 2011. Neighbourhood Meeting Presentation (Aug 17,2011)
NEW TRAFFIC LIGHTS
Traffic lights are being installed at the intersection of 9th Line and Steeles Avenue and will be a welcomed addition for those of us who travel into Toronto. This is a result of the Box Grove Community Association who have been pushing for these lights as well as the widening of Steeles Avenue for several years. Please caution for changing lights when travelling on Steeles Avenue as most people are used to travelling non-stop right through.
ROUGE PARK TO BECOME MARKHAM’S FIRST NATIONAL PARK
After decades in the making, the proposed Rouge Valley National Park will be designated as a National Park. About 10,000 acres of the Rouge Park stretching from the border between Scarborough and Pickering is slated to become the first urban national park, as Prime Minister Stephen Harper said in his throne speech on Friday June 3, 2011. Deputy Mayor Jack Heath, has been a strong advocate for making the Rouge Park a national park for years and has said “it’s something all residents would benefit from".
